(UKPA) – South-east Asian foreign ministers are holding emergency talks about a deadly border dispute that broke out between Cambodia and Thailand near an 11th century temple.
Each side accuses the other of starting the clashes - which have left at least eight people dead - and disagree on how it should be settled.
Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen earlier said he favoured a ceasefire, an idea Thailand flatly rejects.
The host of the talks, Indonesian Foreign Minister Martiy Natalegawa, told reporters there has to be a "conducive atmosphere on the ground for negotiations to take place".
He said the 10-member Association of South-east Asian Nations agree that using force to settle the dispute is simply not an option.

How about the south? We die almost everyday!!! Who's going to help us?
Just worry on Thailand side, keep an eyes on Thailand side, they are the one who keep taunting, intimidaing, bothering the small and weak country...Do not worry much about CAMBODIAN, we respect the international law better than SIAMESE -THIEF!! Usually the big and powerful country alway threaten the poor and weak country by flexing their muscles, used cluster bomb, chemical ammunitions...etc...
Thailand used military drills to invade cambodian 4.6km, this was their plans in mind...Thailand has big big lands throughout.., and why choose Preah vihear to practice their military drilling..?? Thailand think Khmer was dumb?
Cambodia must be well prepared as alway...Asean observer will not help solve anything, it's just put a temp plug...for a while, that's it! Cambodia must keep up strenghtening its military, step by step...We must have both>> economy/military strenght, we can't have only one!!...Both must goes together!! We don't need to be super strenght or super pwoer,, just enough to protecting our home!!
History told us that Thailand not only bothering just Khmer alone, but they caused all kind of trouble to their neighbors...like Burma, Lao, Malaysia, they alway threaten neighbors country..,.because they have United States backing their ass uP!!
