[Australian] School sends backpacks to Cambodia

Northern Star,
Byron Bay, NSW
23rd February 2011

BYRON Bay Public School wants your old school bag.

The school is collecting the backpacks to be sent to children in Cambodia.

This new initiative follows on from a project at the school last year where two boxes of used rugby boots were sent to Kenya.

“This year we decided to do something different and so the school bags to Cambodia project was born,” school principal Geoff Spargo said.

“We only started collecting at the start of this month and already we have dozens of backpacks.

“It’s great to be able to help underprivileged kids, to see them go to school and get an education.”

The bags will be collected until the end of February. If you have a used backpack you would like to donate, phone the school on 6685 6557.
