I was wholeheartedly praising our government for replacing the old sign with a new one. Clearly, it was a clever move by our government. The new sign along with its content, in my humble opinion, was perfectly acceptable within the norm of international diplomacy. But before I finished cheering the move, some unthinkable thing happened. The new sign was taken down and destroyed by our own soldiers, presumably under a direct order from the government.
It was emotionally devastating to see a sign bearing Khmer’s pride and dignity being destroyed indiscriminately. It is hard to describe the painful feeling for such destruction, but it is even harder to comprehend the reason behind it. Speaking of the reason, it is highly improbable that Thailand is ready to go to war over its self-proclaimed disputed land. Thai radical groups make all the barking noises only to gain political ground at home. Regrettably, it appears that our government yields to their demand, knowingly or unknowingly at the expense of our pride and dignity.

Cambodia is practicing restraint against Thailand, which I think is wise and clever. Let's not misunderstand, Cambodia is not pleasing Thailand. Thailand better not see this as a sign of Cambodia backing down. Cambodia is trying to be understanding if there is going to be any peace or co-existence with Thailand. This also allows Cambodia to buy more times to prepare itself, if and when Thailand decided to attack. I hate to say this, but war is imminent between Thailand and Cambodia, the question is, when? It's better for Cambodia to act rational and not behave like Thailand. Let Thailand flex all the muscles it wants. let us wait and see what other problem Thailand has that will be used against Cambodia. Thailand is microscoping Cambodia, looking for every little issue to cry foul about. As long as Thai troops don't cross into border, Cambodia should just keep cool, calm, and collected.
I am somewhat supportive of this action to modify the wording of the stone table, however; I do not support the permanent removal of the stone tablet, if this will be the case later on. I hate to be presumptuous but this could be Thailand's next move. Thailand is very predictable.

Khmer have been known to be very passive and weak, especially when it comes to the neighboring enemies. Throughout history, we continued to destroy ourselves again and again. Not only we prefer to take orders from others, but we also value their ideas while disregarding our own well-being. Such coward act to remove the sign by Mr. Hun Sen is contrary to his alleged "iron fist" leadership with the poor Khmer people within the pass two decades. When it comes to fearing the lost of power from the enemy's threats, this coward leader is willing to sacrifice his morals by bowing to his enemy without any conviction in his heart. I would like to share my condolence with all Khmers around the world for such coward act by PM Hun Sen.

What is it the best way for Khmer to deter our neighbors, Siam and Yuon, from bothering us and swallowing ours land?
Should we trust and ask the international community to help us out regarding this problems at hand? Should we tell UN that more than 2 US billions dollars that the world spent to help us in the late 1990s has not served us well as expected.
Or should we start militarize our nation by spending more on buying weapons and slowing down in civil developments?
Can we acquire long range missiles from any sources?
Will the US allow us to buy cheap weapons from North Korea or Iran or better yet loan us military equipments and we will pay in 200 years of our rice and oil production!Or should we offer 2 million citizenship to Chinese to come and live in Cambodia to help our nation building?

If we take into account of Thailand's historical belligerence, we can see that Thailand always managed to find ways to have problems with the neighbors, whether, Malaysia, Burma, Laos, or Cambodia. When it comes to Cambodia, Thailand does not hesitate to mobilize troops to attack or invade over little issue. The main issue here is territory. Modern day Thailand territory is the success of centuries of off-going and ongoing wars with Cambodia. Cambodia had lost so much of her territory because of this. Cambodia cannot be allowed to lose anymore territory. Cambodia's attitude of peace and co-existence with Thailand is obviously unfruitful. Bigger and stronger Thailand views Cambodia as inferior nation. Nevertheless, Cambodia will not run anymore if Thailand want to cross that border with troops, tanks, or F-16. Cambodia will fight back at any cost necessary to push the invader out and maybe also taking the fight into the invader's home. So Thailand needs to consider its action toward Cambodia very carefully.
