1 [Cambodian] dead, 7 hurt after Lowell shooting spree

Updated: Monday, 03 Jan 2011,

LOWELL - A shooting spree in Lowell left one person dead and seven others injured and the two suspects believed to be responsible are due in court later today.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Corinna Ouer, of Lowell. Partygoer Chandavy Hong tells The Sun of Lowell that the scene was a "bloodbath."

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said two Lowell men, 20-year-old Jameson Phoun and 19-year-old Sothy Voeun, will be arraigned on murder charges today in Lowell District Court.

In a press release, Leone said the victims and suspects met at a small party earlier in the night at a home at 104 Grand St., and the suspects were asked to leave.

He said the men returned at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday and began shooting, hitting eight people, including Ouer.

Ouer was flown to a Boston hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Leone said the seven other victims were taken to local hospitals. They are all expected to be OK.
