Democracy Endangered - Cambodia

Please watch an excellent documentary film from an Australian TV about a fragile democracy in Cambodia. The documentary was made in 1996. The film featured interviews with Second Prime Minister Hun Sen, with First Prime Minister Prince Ranariddh and with Sam Rainsy, who has just been sacked as minister of finance and had just formed his own Khmer Nation Party. It shows Hun Sen's visit to Pailin in 1996. It shows the arrest of Prince Norodom Sirivudh, Ranariddh's uncle and half-brother of the then King Sihanouk, on trumped up charges of plotting to assassinate Hun Sen.

It shows Sam Rainsy was struggling to form his own Khmer Nation Party due to intimidation and harassment from local authority. Please click here to watch the video.
