Cambodia's tank regiments had conducted military drills by firing live ammunitions from the newly-acquired tanks purchased from eastern Europe in September.
The drills were conducted on 5th November at the Tank Regiment Command Headquarter in Kampong Speu's Phnom Srouch district under the auspices of Gen. Hing Bunheang, Commander of Prime Minister Hun Sen's Bodyguard Units.
Maj-Gen. Lanh Kao, Commander of the Tank Regiment, said the dills involved 826 troops who had started their training since 3rd June 2010. He said their training will be completed in the next 20 days.
Gen. Lanh Kao said in order to test the quality of the military hardwares and the capability of the Tank Regiments, he said the regiments must conduct live ammunitions drills by firing 100 milimetres and 14.5 milimetres ammunitions from 10 tanks.
