Cambodia's Kouprey first seen in 1952, captured in 1964 and last seen in 1988 by Western researchers

The mystical Koupreys, literally means 'forest ox' in Khmer, Cambodia's rare and thought-to-be-extinct national symbol, have fascinated wildlife scientists for decades. Although thought to be extinct, scientists have never given up hope of finding one and the search for them have sometimes resulted in tragic consequences.
