The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday for an official visit.

Ban Ki-moon was welcomed by Cambodian Information Minister Khieu Kanhanith at the Phnom Penh International Airport as well as other government officials .

Ban's visit is made at the invitation of Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen. He will spend three days in Cambodia starting from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28.

During his stay here, Ban Ki-moon will hold an official talk with Hun Sen on Wednesday morning and will be granted a royal audience by King Norodom Sihamoni.

Meanwhile, Ban will also visit the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital.

Hun Sen has said earlier he would ask the UN chief to help mediate in the border conflict with Thailand during his visit in Cambodia.

The border issue, however, has been eased as the top leaders of Cambodia and Thailand have held two meetings in recent weeks.

The first meeting was held in New York on the sidelines of the ASEAN-U.S. Summit and the second was held in Brussels in Belgium, also on the sidelines of the ASEM Summit.

Ban Ki-moon will leave Cambodia on Thursday for Hanoi where he will attend the Asean-UN Summit.
