Thai soldiers have indiscriminately shot at a group of 8 Cambodian loggers on the Dangrek Mountain ranges on the night of Monday the 11ht October who were working to remove logs and timbers from the mountain top near Boeng Konchhet point in Kap Chherng district of Surin province.
According to DAP News, 2 people were missing and 6 had escaped back into Cambodia unharmed. However, according to Koh Santepheap, the two missing loggers, namely 21 year-old Tith Prach and 21 year-old Vuth (Ngiem Nguon) were killed on the spot. 44 year-old Seth Nang was seriously wounded. The trio came from Kasekpothivong village, Bonsayrak commune in Samrong town of Oddar Meanchey province. The 5 survivors who had escaped back safely to Cambodia has gone into hiding for fears of being pursued by the Cambodian authority.
DAP News reported that the 8 loggers were hired by timber traders to remove ready-fell logs from the mountain top. The report added that after the shooting, Cambodian border troops contacted the Thai side seeking information about the dead and the wounded but so far the Thai side has not responded yet.
In the last few years, more than 20 Cambodian loggers and immigrant workers had been shot dead by Thai soldiers.
