A delegation of visiting Japanese doctors has expressed an interest to build a hospital in Cambodia which is specialised in the surgery of the nervous system for Cambodia's impoverished nervous sufferers.

A team of Japanese doctors, led by Dr. Shijimi Kitahara who is a director of Japan's Institute for the Surgery of the Nervous System and president of the Medical Development Organisation of Japan, have met Finance Minister Keat Chhon (pictured) on Thursday 30th September in which they put forward a proposal for the establishment of Kitahara Hospital in Cambodia.

On behalf of the Cambodian government, Minister Keat Chhon welcomed the proposed investments. He said the Japanese proposal not only aimed at the construction of a hospital for the surgery of the nervous system and treat cancer patients, but also plans to build a university to teach Cambodian doctors and medical staff at secondary and tertiary levels to upgrade their skills on treating nervous system and cancer patients.

Minister Keat Chhon said the Japanese delegation plans to invest $20 million of the proposed $150 investments on the first stage to study the details and plans to ensure the success of the investments.
