Chinese, Cambodian PM meet on bilateral relations

People'sDaily Online

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen here Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and issues of common concern.

China-Cambodia relations were enjoying further development, Wen said. He reviewed his visit to the country in 2006, when the two sides decided to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership, which brought bilateral relations to a new high.

The Chinese premier said the friendship between the two countries had stood the test of time. Cambodia had given China valuable support in a critical period and on major issues, in which the prime minister displayed the firm will of a statesman, he said.

Wen also expressed his willingness to discuss China-Cambodia relations and issues of common concern with the prime minister.

Hun Sen said he agreed with Wen's remarks on bilateral relations. The China-Cambodia ties had indeed endured the test of time, he said.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of a series of summits between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its partners in the capital of Vietnam.

The summits include the 13th summit between China and ASEAN, the 13th meeting between ASEAN and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, as well as the Fifth East Asia summit.
