Hun Sen unveils the new scenarios for border resolutionn with Thailand

Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has unveiled three new scenarios that Cambodia will apply in the search for a border resolution with Thailand, after 2 years of unsuccessful bilateral negotiations, reports Cambodian Express News.

Frustrated by Thailand's refusal to withdraw its troops from the temple surroundings, which were invaded by hundreds of Thai troops on 15th July 2008, Mr. Hun Sen said Cambodia will now employ a three-pronged approach to the negotiations.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, he said first he will send a letter to Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva to ask Thailand to withdraw Thai troops from the temple surroundings before full diplomatic ties will be re-established. Secondly, he said the verification of troops withdrawal will not need the involvement of a third party. Thirdly, if Thailand refused his request he will refer the Cambodian-Thai dispute to a multilateral engagement.

Mr. Hun Sen said Cambodia and Thailand had reached these agreements in three previous meetings, but 2 years later the three agreements had not been ratified by the Thai parliament yet. It was reported that in the previous three meetings both Cambodian and Thai delegations had agreed that both sides will demobilise their respective troops from Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak pagoda and the Preah Vihear temple surroundings, create a committee to oversee the troop demobilisation from Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak pagoda and the Preah Vihear temple surroundings and thirdly, a joint de-mining of the areas to facilitate the demarcation works.

The agreements will have to be ratified by the Thai parliament before they come into force. However, 2 years on, the agreements had been indefinitely shelved by the Thai parliament.

During the speech, Mr. Hun Sen was irritated with the Thai People's Alliance for Democracy led by tycoon Sondhi Limthongkul who had allegedly cursed and insulted him by posting a picture of him with someone kicking him in the head.

He only get mad again at the Thais because they insulted him. But when they are quiet he never said a word about Thai violations of Cambodian territorial integrity. Sounds like he is a traitor.
