The proud face of a national Cambodian icon: Em Theay, the Tenth Dancer (Photo: Andy Brouwer, www.AndyBrouwer.co.uk)Australian theatre audiences are being given the opportunity this week to share the experiences of four Cambodian artists who survived the rule of the Khmer Rouge between 1975 until 1979. The performers tell their story using traditional Cambodian dance, music and shadow puppetry. 'The Continuum - Beyond The Killing Fields' features an 80 year old female dancer, Em Theay, who was recruited as a Royal Court Dancer by the grandmother of Cambodia's present king when she was seven years old.
