Thailand will re-instate Thai ambassador to Cambodia as early as today, Tuesday 24th August, after fugitive ex-Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra resigned as Cambodia's economic advisor. Cambodia said it will reciprocate by re-instating its ambassador to Thailand tomorrow as a goodwill gesture, reports Deum Ampil.

According to the Thai Nation newspaper, Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya had instructed Ambassador Prasas Prasasvinitchai to resume his duties in Phnom Penh today, adding that the Cambodian envoy should return to Bangkok at around the same time.

However, Deum Ampil reported Mr. Koy Kuong, the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, as saying that Cambodia will send its ambassador, Mrs. Yu Ay (pictured), to Thailand on Wednesday, one day after Thailand had sent its ambassador to Cambodia. the report added that the Cambodian Foreign Ministry has yet to receive a diplomatic note from Thailand informing about the official re-instatement of the Thai ambassador.

I hope that Mrs. Ambassador has sufficient credential to articulating her job for the Cambodian people, I pray that she does, and not a pencil pusher.
