Temple row could lead to bloodshed, warns Cambodia

Cambodia's prime minister has warned that a border dispute with Thailand could result in bloodshed.

Hun Sen says the dispute with Thailand is "very hot" and could cause bloodshed.

He made the comments during a ceremony attended by foreign diplomats.

He also said bilateral attempts to resolve the conflict would not work.

Thailand's nationalist lobby has been holding rallies, calling on its government to cancel a border agreement with Cambodia around the disputed temple of Preah Vihear.

Cambodia has legal rights to the temple but Thailand's nationalists do not recognise its ownership and argue the border deal breaches Thailand's sovereignty.

Thailand's prime minister has been accused by Cambodia of making military threats, but Thailand's government denies the allegations.
