PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 26, 2010 – This powerful novel about the 1970s-era holocaust is semi-autobiographical. Author Bo K.S. Uce is a survivor of “The Killing Fields” of Cambodia. He wrote the book because “younger generations may not understand what happened. It’s very important that they should know.”

Sunset in Paradise is the first book of a trilogy describing what was once the happy life of eight-year-old Komsot-Vezna Sokk. The child and his well-to-do family are caught up in the nightmare that Cambodia became after the Vietnam War ended. In 1975, the Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot caused the deaths of more than 1 million Cambodians, including 85 percent of the country’s intellectuals.

A gentle voice now speaks about this cruelty beyond our comprehension. At the end of the first book in a trilogy, the young boy in this story sits alone, patiently waiting for his family to join him. He does not know that they were all killed.

SUNSET IN PARADISE: Part 1 (ISBN: 978-1-60911-549-4) will be available on Aug. 20, 2010, for $18.50 and can be ordered through the publisher’s website:

He has developed micro-businesses for his cousins and relatives who still live in Takok Village, Cambodia. He now lives with his wife and two daughters in Long Beach, California.
