Dengue Fever Returns Down Under In October For First Multi-City Tour of Australia

(I-Newswire) August 11, 2010 - (LOS ANGELES, CA) Cambodian-American rock band Dengue Fever (www.myspace.com/denguefevermusic) announced today that they have confirmed tour dates in Australia this Fall that include two major music festivals for October.

Dengue Fever will arrive in Australia to make their Perth debut at One Movement Music Festival (http://festival.onemovementmusic.com/artist/191) and will end their tour at one of the major multi-arts festivals in the world, the Melbourne Festival (http://www.melbournefestival.com.au/program/production?id=3840&idx=13&max=54). In 2009, Dengue Fever peformed at at WOMADelaide, playing two shows at the festival’s Adelaide home. Shortly thereafter, the band played their first and only New Zealand shows at WOMAD in Taranaki, NZ.

Dengue Fever is currently recording a new album that will be released in Spring 2011 on Fantasy Records, a division of Concord Music Group, which is part of the Australian-based Village Roadshow Entertainment Group. The forthcoming release will feature all new material, and will include tracks in both Khmer and English.

Dengue Fever’s ascent from local eastside Los Angeles indie band to international pop attraction has been a steady climb. Known for their high- energy live shows at clubs, theaters and festivals, the band has captured attention from some unconventional corners. Metallica’s Kirk Hammett chose their song “One Thousand Tears of a Tarantula” as his second favorite song of the decade in Rolling Stone; in 2010, Dengue Fever was the answer of a question on Jeopardy!; and, True Blood, HBO’s smash television series not only featured band’s music but also named an entire episode after their composition, “Escape from Dragon House.”

The band has garnered critical praise from all over the world. Amazon.com named Dengue Fever’s second album “Escape From Dragon House” the #1 International Release of theYear, Spin magazine featured the band in their ‘Breaking Out’ section, and high profile features have appeared in the New York Times, Magnet, Wired, and N.P.R.’s “Fresh Air” and Radio Australia, just to name a few.

Dengue Fever is Cambodian songstress Chhom Nimol, Zac Holtzman (guitar/vocals), Ethan Holtzman (keyboards), Senon Williams (bass), Paul Smith (drums) and David Ralicke (horns).
