Army Awaits Govt Command on Border Dispute

10 August 2010
Source: Thai-Asean News Network

The defense minister affirmed that the armed forces are ready to act on the government's command if the administration deems it necessary to push out Cambodians from the area surrounding Preah Vihear Temple.

Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan assured that no force would be used against Cambodian citizens inhabiting the area around Preah Vihear Temple and denied any such order has been issued.

He affirmed, however, that the military is ready to act on the administration's command.

Prawit said he has not contacted his Cambodian counterpart on the situation, leaving it in the hand of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Border Committee.

The minister added that the military wishes to continue negotiations to resolve the dispute while stating that the border remains calm.

Army Spokesman Colonel Sittichai Makkunchorn revealed that the army's most recent meeting dealt with national reform and did not touch on the border conflict, stating only that the military will protect Thailand's interests.

A meeting of the army's top brass is scheduled today to review the border situation but no details have been released

Now, the Thais gov't is threatening to kill the innocent Cambodian again, because these innocent people just want to stay and protect their righteous lands within the sovereignty of their country. The Thais SAID "We want that piece of lands and you Cambodian must move away from here, if you don't, we will use our big guns and big planes to kill you all", and the Thais also SAID "without that small piece of land, your Preah Vihear Temple is nothing, so give me the lands now, and we'll the temple later".

Our fellows Cambodian, please do NOT move a square inches from our righteous territory, this small piece of lands is very meaningful to our country and more importantly to our Preah Vihear Temple. It is unequivocally to us and to the world, that this land belongs to our country, and the Thais want to steal it.
