Mr. Rong Chhun (pictured), chairman of Cambodian Watchdog Council (CWC), said on Wednesday 30th June that he will lead a 10-member delegation of CWC to visit border posts in Koh Thom district, adjoining Leuk Dek district in Kandal province, in the first week of July to see whether border posts in the areas are planted inside Khmer territory or on the borderlines, reports Cambodian Express News.

Mr. Rong Chhun said he plans to interview locals about the border posts and about a poosibility of the flows of illegal Vietnamese settlers to Cambodia through border crossings in the areas. He said he also plans to visit border post No. 270 a second time after his previous visit has been stifled by local authority and vigilante groups.

Mr. Var Kimhong, Chairman of Cambodian Border Commission, said there are original and newly-planted border posts in Chrey Thom commune of Koh Thom district as well as natural borderlines such as creeks and rivers. He said Mr. Rong Chhun and his delegation can visit the sites, but he must not stir up troubles in the areas because he is not a border expert.

Mr. Tith Sothea, spokesman for the Quick and Press Reaction Unit, concurred Mr. Var Kimhong's comments, but said Mr. Rong Chhun must get permission from local authority first before he can visit the sites.
