A Cambodian commander have on Tuesday warned the Thai yellow shirt protesters that they will be shot if they crossed the border into Cambodian territory near Preah Vihear temple, reports Deum Ampil.

The warning came as the Thai yellow shirts had stepped up their opposition to the listing of Preah Vihear temple and Cambodia's management plan of the temple to be presented at Unesco meeting in Brazil next week. About 1,000 yellow shirts had staged a protest in front of Unesco's office in Bangkok on Tuesday and warned that they might take their protests to Preah Vihear temple.

Gen. Srey Doek (pictured), commander of the Preah Vihear Command, said he does not pay much attention to the Thai yellow shirts' action, saying he will strictly carry out Prime Minister Hun Sen's order to protect every inch of Cambodian territory. "I'm not concerned, but if they (Thai yellow shirts) entered our territory we will shoot. I am not interested in the yellow shirts' statement. I will only carry out the respectable orders of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen to defend our territorial integrity", he said.

Gen. Srey Doek, however, said that the situations along the Khmer-Thai borders, especially at Preah Vihear, remain calm. But he added that the Cambodian military has sufficient capability to use self-defence to protect Cambodian territorial integrity.

Cambodia must take firm actions to protect its border, including using weapons. Thai yellow shirts were the ones who caused the present border fighting and tensions, so strong actions against them must be taken if they crossed the border again.
