Prof. Surya Subedi (pictured), UN Special Envoy for Human Rights in Cambodia, will pay an 8-day visit to the kingdom from 8-17 June to explore and monitor human rights situations and judicial process in Cambodia, reports Radio Free Asia.
This is his third visit to the kingdom where he will meet government with government officials to examine the judicial process, justice and promote human rights in Cambodia. He is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Hun Sen and have an audience with King Sihamoni.
Prof. Subedi's visit came a few days after the Cambodian Supreme Court upheld a lower court's verdict which found Mrs. Mu Sochua guilty of defaming Mr. Hun Sen. Many observers and human rights groups called the verdict biased and politically motivated.
