Trades between Cambodia and Britain rise dramatically

A British Embassy official said bilateral trades between Cambodia and Britain has risen dramatically in the first 4 months of 2010 which reached 66.21 million pounds, a rise of 11.47 million pounds ($17.28), compared to 54.74 million pounds in the first 4 months of 2009, reports Cambodian Express News.

Mr. Neng Vannak, spokesman for the British Embassy, said from January to April, Britain imported 62.53 million pounds worth of goods from Cambodia, but only exported 3.68 million pounds to Cambodia. He said the figures for the same time last year saw Britain imported 53.09 million pounds worth of goods from cambodia, while exporting only 1.65 worth of goods to Cambodia.

In 2009, two-way trades between Cambodia and Britian reached 181.25 million pounds. Of these figures, Britain imported 177.23 million pounds worth of goods from Cambodia, while exporting to Cambodia 4.02 million pounds worth of goods only.

The big bulk of Britain's imports from Cambodia are mainly garments.
