Cambodian troops have on 21st June evicted a group of Thai soldiers who attempted to set up a camp site near Ta Krabey temple (pictured), located about 100 kilometres from Preah Vihear temple, reports Kampuchea Thmey.

Gen. Chea Dara, Cambodian Deputy Commander-in-Chief in charge of the Khmer-Thai border operations, said on 21st June that a group of Thai soldiers have climbed up to about 120 metres above ground and set up a camp near Ta Krabey temple, which is situated about 200 metres above ground on top of the Dangrek Mountains.

He said that a group of Cambodian soldiers arrived on the spot and forced them to leave the area to return back to the Thai side of the border. He said the confrontation nearly lead to an armed clash but because they were outnumbered, those Thai soldiers angrily agreed to retreat, vowing to declare war on the Cambodian troops when they returned. The Cambodian side responded by saying they welcome the Thai declaration, he added.
