Nuon Chea (pictured), former chairman of National Assembly, ideologue and Brother Number Two of the Khmer Rouge regime, has been taken to Calmette Hospital at a time when the Khmer Rouge Tribunal is preparing to hear his case for crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity, reports everyday.com.
Mr. Reach Sambath, public officer of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, confirmed on Tuesday 8th June that Nuon Chea has been hospitalised but that he is not suffering from any life-threatening illness, but rather it is a routine health check. He added that Nuon Chea has not suffered from any serious illnesses. But he is suffering from chronic diabetes.
Nuon Chea has been returned back to his detention at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal headquarter on the same day after the health has been completed.
