His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni (pictured) will make a 5-day official visit to Japan from 16th May at the invitation of Emperor Akihito, reports Radio France Internationale.
King Sihamoni's visit to Japan, his first visit to the country since he came to the throne in 2004, is aimed at strengthening friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
King Sihamoni will meet with Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama as well as other Japanese officials during his 5-day visit.
Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, said King Sihamoni's visit is a sign of improved bilateral relations between the two countries. Prince Sisowath Thomico, the king's advisor who will accompany the king on his trip to Japan, said King Sihamoni's visit will help bring more Japanese investments to Cambodia.
Japan is King Sihamoni's fifth official trip overseas since his coronation in 2004 after his trips to Vietnam, France, the Czech Republic and China.
