A senior official from Camko Motors, a Cambodian and Korean car assembly joint venture, said the company's car assembly factory will be operational at the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011, reports everyday.com.
Mr. Lim Visal, director of Camko Motors, said on 7th May that he is hopeful that the company has the capability to assemble 12-seater vans, tourist vans and family cars at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. He claimed that the factory has the capacity to assemble 3,000-4,000 cars per year. However, he said in the first stage, the factory can only assemble 1,000 cars per year.
Camko Motors is a joint venture between a Korean company and a local Cambodian company to build a car assembly factory on 165,000 m2 of land in Kong Kong to assemble several models of Hyundai vehicles.
