The UN Human Rights Commission based in Geneva has applauded Cambodia's acceptance of its 91 recommendations to improve human rights situations in Cambodia, reports Radio France Internationale.

In a statement released to the media, Prof. Surya Subedi, UN Special Human Rights Rapporteur to Cambodia, said Cambodia's acceptance of the UN's recommendations shows that Cambodia is making efforts and commitments to build a system for a state of laws which is an important factor the country's developments.

Political analysts said it is normal for the UN to laud and applaud member states for acceptance of its bold recommendations, but they noted that it is particularly important because Cambodia is a small country that is bold enough to accept all the UN's 91 recommendations.

The 91 UN's recommendations were compiled by the UN's 192 member states in December for the improvements of human rights in Cambodia.

Mr. Thun Saray, chairman of the human rights group Adhoc, said he applaud the government's decidion to accept all the UN's recommendations. However, the government must take concrete measures to address the recommendations and effectively implement the recommendations with real actions.

The UN's recommendations include improvements of human rights, strengthen rights of land ownerships and home ownerships, strengthen the independence and the capability of the judiciary, promote the rights of assembly and the freedom of expression, promote the dialogue between the government and the civil society and to ensure the safety and security of all human rights activists etc.
