The president of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Dang Ngoc Tung, received a delegation from the Cambodian Labour Union Federation (CLUF) in Hanoi on April 13, opening up new prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Mr Tung briefed the Cambodia delegation on the role, position, functions and structure of the Vietnamese labour organization and stressed that the agency attaches a great deal of importance to expanding ties of friendship with trade unions in other countries, especially China, Cambodia and Laos.
For his part, CLUF President Som Aun, who heads the Cambodian delegation, told Mr Tung that the Cambodian trade union centre has more than 200,000 members, including those who work in industries such as textiles and garments, shoes, rubber, transport, oil and gas, and education.
Mr Aun said he hopes that his visit to Vietnam will help strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two labour organizations in training trade unionists and protecting workers’ rights.
