Fugitive ex-Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra (pictured) has denied that he is travelling to Cambodia the same time as when his red shirt supporters are preparing to topple the Bangkok government with a massive million-strong mass protests scheduled to take place in Bangkok on Monday, reports Deum Ampil.

Twittering from Dubai, where he is based, Mr. Thaksin said he has not been expelled from Dubai and travelling to Cambodia as alleged by the Thai government. Instead, he is travelling to Germany to meet his wife and children after they have fled Thailand to avoid being held hostage in the wake of massive protests by his supporters.

On Friday, March 12th 2010, the Nation newspaper reported that Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra has left Dubai and arrived in Cambodia on Friday as red shirts started gathering to join the mass rallies on Sunday.

Thai PM's secretary Chavanon Indharakomansut said Thaksin travelled to Siem Reap province of Cambodia by his private jet.

Thai foreign ministry has already contacted its embassy in Phnom Penh to monitor Thaksin's activities in Cambodia, Chavanont said.

Thaksin has been appointed as an economic adviser to Cambodia's PM Hun Sen and the Khmer government. The appointment has led to protests by the Thai government.
