SRP MPs request parliament to delay debates on anti-corruption laws

A number of Sam Rainsy Party MPs had signed a petition to request the National Assembly to delay an extra-ordinary meeting to debate on anti-corruption laws to April to give more time for MPs to examine and review the draft bill. The anti-corruption laws were drafted in 1996, but its details were kept in secret for the last 14 years. Opposition MPs said they were only given 5 days to read and examine the laws befire it is submitted for approval by the ruling Cambodian People's Party-dominated parliament. The Human Rights Party said it will boycot the parliamentary debates, scheduled for today, 10th March, because it says its MPs did not have enough time to examine and review the laws.
