Khmer people living along the Cambodian-Vietnamese borders in Svay Rieng province have on Sunday said the Cambodian and Vietnamese authorities have tightened and restricted border crossings at Daung commune of Romeas Haek district, reports Deum Ampil.

Mr. Phat Chhin, a villager from Tuol Prey in Daung commune, told Deum Ampil that in the last one month, authorities of both countries had tightened border crossings with strict ID checks at many checkpoints along the borders. He said he supports the measures because they were taken by authorities from both countries to ensure the safety and security and also to avoid disputes and conflicts between the citizens of both countires.

Mr. Chy Suos, also from Tuol Prey village, said the broder crossing restrictions didn't just happen now, but it happened a long time ago, especially by the Vietnamese authority.

Mr. Khen Sakun, Deputy Governor of Romeas Haek district, acknowledged that there are border crossing restrictions, but they were put in place to ensure the safety and security for the people, after a Cambodian man was beaten to death by a group of Vietnamese gangsters during the Chinese New Year in February.

On 15th February, a group of Vietnamese gangsters beaten one Cambodian youth to death and seriously injured two of his friends when they crossed the borders to celebrate Chinese New Year in Tan Long village, Binh Duong (promounced Bien Yoeung) commune of Chau Thanh district in Tay Ninh (Rong Damrei) province. The Vietnamese youths had been arrested and sent to court.

It seem only the Vietnamese are applying restrictions to Cambodians who wanted to cross into Vietnam. Cambodian authority must apply the same rule to the Vietnamese who want to cross into Cambodia. Right now, millions of Vietnamese have lived illegally in Cambodia since 1979.

Are you kidding? Don't you know that CPP can't affort to offend VN, its BIG BROTHER? It has been trying harder and harder to please VN at all cost. Cambodian authorities punish and jail their own people to show Hanoi its loyalty. With a sense of superiority, illegal VN backed by CPP can do anything as their hearts desire on Khmer soil. Just wait and see, my friend, sooner or later Yuon will swallow Cambodia whole alive. What a national disaster.
So, don't blame Yuon for their illegal residency when CPP has acquiesced to it.
