Assemblyman's Ex-wife Wants Services Of Cambodian Interpreter

KOTA BAHARU, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The ex-wife of Melor assemblyman Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh on Thursday asked the Syariah High Court for the services of a Cambodian interpreter in her RM3 million alimony suit because she is not fluent in the Malay language.

Siti Aishah Chou Abdullah, 25, a Cambodian, made the application through her counsel, Sibri Ismail, before judge Abdullah Man.

Abdullah granted the application and adjourned the hearing to March 11 and April 1 next year.

Siti Aishah is willing to provide a letter in support to obtain the services of the interpreter from the Immigration Department.

Sibri said Siti Aishah needed an interpreter in her mother tongue because she could not understand or speak fluently in Malay.

Wan Ismail was absent on Thursday because he is performing the haj in Mecca. He was represented by counsel Mohd Raziman Yaccub.

At an earlier hearing, Siti Aishah said she believed that her ex-husband could afford to pay the RM3 million alimony because he had once told her that he said RM1 million savings in the form of shares and other assets.

Siti Aishah filed for the alimony in January to take care of herself and her two children, Wan Ahmad Firdaus, 4, and Wan Nor Salwa, 3.
