Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will send an open letter to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva explaining why he accepted the job of adviser to the Cambodian government, his close associate Noppadon Pattama (pictured) said on Friday.
Thaksin has been appointed by King Sihamoni of Cambodia as personal adviser to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and economic adviser to the Cambodian government.
Mr Noppadon accused the government of over-reacting by recalling the ambassador to Phnom Penh, saying it would affect diplomatic relations between the two countries, put border trade at risk and might even lead to conflict.
He urged Mr Abhisit to review his decision and negotiate with Mr Hun Sen.
