The Cambodian National Assembly has on Monday 16th lifted the parliamentary immunity of opposition leader Sam Rainsy (pictured).
87 out 122 MPs had voted to strip Mr. Rainsy off his immunity to pave the way for the Svay Rieng provincial court to question and investigate allegations of "sabotage and destruction of public properties" when he led 100 villagers to uproot demarcation poles on 25th October.
However, 26 MPs from the Sam Rainsy Party and 3 MPs from the Human Right Party boycotted the parliamentary session.
