A latest survey by Abac Poll revealed that more than half of the polled, or 51.9 per cent considered Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's stance on the Thai-Cambodian rift as appropriate.
The survey was conducted in 17 provinces across the country, involving 1,344 respondents over 18 years of age.
57.5 per cent of the respondents believed the current situation between Thailand and Cambodia was already expected by politicians.
58.9 per cent said the Thai government should remain calm and focus on solving problems in the country.
According to 75.2 per cent, politicians cared more about their personal interest than national interest.
69.5 per cent believed people in the agricultural and labour sectors were people with true love for their country, while only 50.2 per cent saw government officials as true patriots.
As for the government's campaign to promote national unity by encouraging people in each province to sing the national anthem every evening at 6pm, 78.6 per cent wanted the media to broadcast it again in the next morning at 8am.
