A former Radio Free Asia (RFA) reporter has been arrested for extortion and writing a threatening email to another Mr. Soy Sopheap, publisher of Deum Ampil, reports Deum Ampil.
Ros Sokhith (pictured), who used to file a report for RFA during the 2007 commune election, was recruited by the current RFA director of Khmer Service, Mr. Kem Sos.
He was accused of writing a threatening email by using fake name to extort money from Mr. Soy Sopheap and was detained at Preysor Jail awaiting for a court hearing.
According to Deum Ampil, Ros Sokhith is an addicted gambler and was arrested at Chrey Thom Casino in Kandal province, where he is a frequent gambler.
