I am writing to you is to discuss my frustration regarding our native country. I was about 8 y.o, when I was taken to the Concentration Camp during the KR era. There are many issues in the KI forum; people are just absent minded and defending a tyrant like Hun Sen. It makes me so frustrated. I am saddened that the people will never live in peace, prosperity, and without fear as long as CPP is the ruling party. I have so much stuffs in my head; I can't put on paper as good as you two. You have written very well in the KI-media.
There are so much fighting in the forum. If we just put 1% of those energy to good cause, we (Khmer) probably better off solving some of the Principle of the Conflict Resolution. We should sweating together for our native country, but instead we chose side to bloodshed srok Khmer once more. The wealth of the country is the people, not of the political arena. The CPP failed to grasp that concept.
As part of the planet Earth citizen, We ought to work for a common cause. E Pluribus Unum (from the many -- we are one!). We should accept the different among all of us. Most countries around the globe now are talking about the Sustainability in the 21st Century? Does Cambodia has any clue what the climate change do the ecosystem. I am not physicist, engineers, climatologist, but I am a Registered Nurse by profession. I many interests specifically the first 3 fields.
My last 4 visits to Cambodia since 2002; it has changed so much since my childhood during the Khmer Rouge. The land becomes more arid, soil depleted in nutrients due to increase temperature and drought related issue. The extinction of many species; seeing more insects and drought related crops damage. The people just know why? They haven't a clue! The soil erosion and nutrient loss d/t not understanding of important of crop rotation cycle. The peasants using 1000 year old technique to plant rice; low crops yield. I scratched my head. Where the Agriculture Minister in Cambodia?
Around Phnom Sompov, the land is desolate; barely has any trees left standing. It all became the fuel for cooking! Where the government subsidies, so forest can be left standing? When there's not enough trees, the water cycle is being altered. The country is experiencing more drough season, the climate is warmer, the soil more arid, and increase crops damage insects d/t extinction of its natural enemy.
There are 117 death per 1000 live birth in Cambodia. This is an outrageous stat, but it's true 'cause the lack of clean water access and health/nutrition access. What is the government of Cambodia doing with the donor money being infused annually? I better stop right here.

Tang2Neak, I'm a loyal blogster here at Khmerization. Base on my understand of present day Cambodia, there isn't that much division in politic of Cambodia. I think in KI-media forum, you might find yourself some imposters pretending to be Khmer just to stir things up, to infuse and confuse Khmer to kill each other.
I'm sure a lot of us are very frustrated and bitter about the political party of Hun Sen/CPP running Cambodia into the ground. Their domocratic political system is very communist and dictatorship. Not too many Cambodian people are in favor of Saddam Hun Sen demo-cracy CPP ruling style. Hun Sen/CPP got to where they are not because of people electing the party but through cheating, lying, and manipulating the election. For example, just before election, CPP gangs would journey to these towns and villages of the those provinces. Along with those trucks, there were load of gifts, such as a small bag of rice, a few packs of instance-noodle, Krama, or some less significant gifts. The CPP would use these gifts as a political ploy to convince the poors and uneduated Khmer to vote for the CPP party. On every highways in Cambodia, you would see the CPP billboards every 2-5 kilometers, you rarely see an opposition party billboards. CPP knows who likes the party and who is not, sometime voters who don't support the CPP party don't get a voter invitation. I can go on and on but the point is, CPP is very corrupt and will desperately do anything to stay in power. This is the side-effect of Cambodia when CPP/Hun Sen is very well back-up by a Vietnamese goverment.
wow, you dislike hun sen that much??????i think he is ok but the only thing i hate himm for it is because he sided to the yuon too much. i think he the only leader after angkor, who built more schools, hospital, roads etc... he only sided with the yuon at this moment because he need some back bone to left srok khmer up from year zero. he play hardball with his citizens because he don't want the yuon to have an empression of his true good intentions for us khmers. what we need is to find a way without war among ourself to beat cpp party....... and get a fresh minded leader who have an iron fist like him that favor us khmer. i think...
I also believe that many Ki-Media commenters are impostors trying to stir things up to in order to make Khmers fighting Khmers. However, there are those who have been completely duped or brainwashed by Hun Sen's CPP to believe that Hun Sen and the CPP is the best hope for Cambodia. This is a "kangkep knong andong" (a frog in the well)mentality. Those Hun Sen's and CPP's beneficiaries should look at prosperous countries around the world to see how often they change their leaders. Hun Sen has been in control of Cambodia for nearly 31 years and millions of Cambodians are still living below poverty line, despite billions of dollars in international aid. This is another reason to get rid of Hun Sen and replace him with a new and competent leader.
Please don't forget that 'Khmer' is an ethnic group of people living within the internationally recognised borders of Cambodia. They live there along with many other ethnic groups under the nationality of Cambodian. These ethnic groups are also to be found in the border regions of neighbouring countries. Should we not start to think as Cambodia as a country of united ethnic groups and not merely as representing the ethnic majority Khmer.
The current way of thinking is representative of a mentality that perceives society as 'us' and 'them'. 'Us' being those who belong to one group: ethnic group, family, party etc. The 'us' will look after themselves and work to prevent 'them' from taking their power and influence. In such a situation it is very easy for a simple divide and rule strategy to succeed leaving the majority of all ethnic groups without proper representation at the highest levels of society resulting in their voice being unheard. Hence the current situation that we all write about.
A society is not a democracy if the views of the minority ignored when carrying out the wishes of the majority. Compromise is the key to a stable democracy.

3:11PM,huh??????? please clarify your comments, less beating-around-the-bush would help. What are you trying to say? Are you talking about Khmer, Democracy, or something else. I'm not making a connection here. Maybe my education isn't educated enough to understand your fancy writing skill.
The same with me 3:11 PM. Please make your stance clear. Are you suggesting that all Cambodians/Khmers should all join the CPP?
Diverse opinions, including dissenting voices, are healthy recipe for the democratization process of a dictatorial/communistic regime like Cambodia.
Compromise is a key to a stable democracy, yes. But you have to tell this to Hun Sen because he is the one who is using his iron-fisted rule to nail down any opposition or dissenting voices.
The oppositions are fighting with their bare hands, pens and papers but Hun Sen and his cliques are fighting with bullets and jails.
These kinds of political persecutions and oppressions have led to the genocide in the 1970s when Sihanouk used his iron-fisted rule to persecute oppositions and critics in the 1960s.
It might happen again if Hun Sen continues his political oppression of his critics.
