PM: Border row won't go to int'l forum

Thailand will not raise the Thai-Cambodian border conflict to the international level as the country hopes to solve the problem through dialogue at the Joint Commission for Land Boundary, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva (pictured) said on Wednesday.

The conflict will not be raised at Asean meetings or other international meetings, he said.

Mr Abhisit then insisted that the government will not trade support for the listing of Preah Vihear temple as a world heritage site for any other benefit.

"What we are doing is not for the benefit of others, but for our country," he said. "This government does not have anything to trade for that."

Okay..superstar Abhisit Vejjajiva, why the hell wouldn't you want bring this Thai-Cambodian border issue to ASEAN or other international level? Thailand knows too damn well that Cambodia is following the international rule by using map that is internationally recoginized as legitimate. On the other hand, Thailand does not wish to see Cambodia obtain anything, therefore it will create a road-block to stall Cambodia. Simply put, Thailand is just being a pain in the ass. Thailand will lose an argument if this issue is brought forth to ASEAN or to international level. That is why, Thailand is avoiding it.

Abhisit is trying to confuse international opinion. How can an aggressor like Thailand bring the dispute to the UN because it is the aggressor. If Thailand brings the case to the UN, all the UN members will laugh at them or tell them to get out of Cambodian territories.UN members are not that stupid to believe in Thai lies.

Now, Cambodia has a very good case to bring the dispute to the Asean or the UN or even the international court. Hun Sen has allowed the opportunity to pass by, but it is not too late. Bilateral talks with Thailand for more than one year produced nothing because Thailand is not sincere. So, the best way is to bring the case to the UNSC, Asean or international court.

If Cambodia goes to international stage, Cambodia has more advantage because Thailand is the aggressor that invaded Cambodian territories, plus the international community will accept the internationally-recognized map from the 1908 Cambodia-Thai Treaty, not the unilaterally-drawn map produced by Thailand.

So, don't cry wolf or show the world your crocodile tears, Abhisit! No one will believe you because your country, Thailand, is the aggressor, not the victim like Cambodia.
