The Ministry of Interior plans to reshuffle the chiefs and deputy chiefs of its police department in light of an increase in the spates of violent robberies in recent weeks.
According to Deum Ampil, reliable sources from the Interior Ministry said on Sunday 6th September that most chiefs and deputy chiefs of its police department will be moved to another section or demoted with some new faces expected.
The reshuffle is expected to take place next week. Interior Minister Sar Kheng (pictured) seems to be unhappy with the ways the police is handling the levels of crimes in the capital recently.
With an increase in violent robberies in recent weeks, Phnom Penh Police Commissioner Touch Naroth warned his station commanders that they face the sack if the spates of robberies continue.

I hope Mr. Sar Kheng will sack all the corrupt and incompetent police chiefs and appoint non-corrupt and competent police chief instead.
Violent robberies took place in the middle of the days in the middle of the capital and no one was arrested. These policemen are there to extort money from innocent people, not to arrest criminals. Also, the robbers are the police themselves so how can they arrest the criminals because they are the criminals themselves.
