Thai planes had violated Cambodian airspace eight times near Preah Vihear temple on Saturday 8th August.
Cambodian commanders said that the airspace violations happened when Thai troops had softened their attitudes by agreeing to dismantle and remove all wire and concrete fences they installed earlier.
Gen. Chhum Socheat, spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of Defence, told Reaksmei Kampuchea that on Saturday a Thai reconnaissance plane had flown over the borders near Preah Vihear temple eight times and three times the same Thai plane had flown over the 4th temple (4th Gopura).
He said: "When we asked them they said the plane is flying overhead to protect a Thai delegation visiting Thai soldiers based at Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak."
However, Gen. Chhum Socheat said Thai troops had removed all wire fences laid in front of their bunkers in the disputed zones on top of Phnom Trop on Saturday. He added the 50 metres long barbed wire fences had already been removed at 10 am on Saturday.
Thai troops also built a 15o metres long concrete, two metres high walls ealier in the disputed zones. Gen. Chhum Socheat however said the Thais had promised to dismantle all those concrete walls by Sunday.
At the same time, the Thai military had asked the Cambodian side to jointly organise a Buddhist ceremony with the Cambodian soldiers to be held on 25th August in front of the Ta Thav pass. Gen. Chhum Socheat said that the request had been passed on to Prime Minister Hun Sen and that he had accepted the Thai request. He said: "We hope this joint Buddhist ceremony will help make the Khmer-Thai border disputes return back to normalcy."

According to an article published in the Deum Ampil newspaper, the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will send a diplomatic note to Thailand over a Thai plane’s unauthorized flight into Cambodian airspace last week, according to Koy Koung, a ministry spokesman.
“So far, we have not reached any details from the Defense Ministry related to this plane flying into Cambodian sovereignty yet,” Kuy Koung told DAP News Cambodia on Monday. “We are waiting for enough details from the Defense Ministry then we will send a diplomatic note to Thailand.” Defense Ministry spokesman Chhum Socheat could not be reached for comment on Monday.
Srey Doeuk, chief of Cambodian forces at Preah Vihear said that a Thai plane flew 8 times into Cambodian airspace on August 7, 2009, raising concerns of soldiers stationed nearby.
“The plane flew at in a high speed and when one of our army officials asked about this irregular event, in response, the Thai army said it was not a fighter plane or a bomber,” he said, adding that the Thais claimed the plane belonged to the Thai forestry administration, which it said is investigating forests in the area.
However, presumably unconvinced by such Thai claims, Srey Doeuk warned with strong words that the Thai army should not repeat the event.
A similar event occurred on April 03, 2009 when a Thai army plane flew into Cambodian airspace.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen warned Thailand over its illegal flight. “Cambodia does not have fighter planes or bombers, but Cambodia has weapons to shoot these planes down,” he said.

Ah one eye man said he would shot down ah Thai planes if it violate cambodia airspace. What's happening now? Nothing happen to ah Thai planes yet.
Yes true, Hun Sen said he will shoot down Thai planes that violate Cambodian airspace, but now he gave permission to hold a joint Buddhist ceremony with the Thai while Thai planes violated Cambodian airspace 8 times in one day. This coward liar Hun Sen is not fit to be leader of Cambodia.
i like to see the bastard Thai do that to its other neighbors, lets say malaysia or myanmar. those guys wouldn't hesitate, they would launch SAM to smoke those Thai planes ass faster than the Thai could say, "spicy pad-thai"
what the bastard did was teasing and taunting cambodia to react militarily. as soon as cambodia react, the bastard will use that as a reason that cambodia is attacking thailand. i say, what a bullishly coward act to start a war.
the way i see it, if the bastard likes to pull those kind of shit, the bastard is a coward. how childish is that. if the bastard wants to kick cambodia's ass, come on over, be a siem about it.
