SAM Rainsy Party Member of Parliament Yont Tharo filed complaints with the Ministry of Interior and the Phnom Penh Muncipal Police on Tuesday, imploring them to investigate his son's murder after a traffic accident on Sunday.

Yont Thauron was shot and killed outside a noodle stall near Wat Botum park just minutes after an argument that ensued after his car collided with several motorbikes.

The gunmen, who witnesses said were members of the police department, also seriously wounded three of Yont Thauron's friends.

Witnesses at the crime scene said that after the traffic accident, Yont Thauron and his friends exited their vehicle and ordered the motorbike drivers around them to kneel down and apologise, leading to a furious argument.

"Although my son made a mistake in behaving pridefully, he was unarmed and should not have been killed," Yont Tharo said.

Municipal Police Chief Touch Naruth said that police had already identified the attackers and were working to apprehend them as quickly as possible.

"ordered the motorbike drivers around them to kneel down and apologise"

That doesn't surprise me. That's all Khmer do when they think are tycoon of some sort. The other think the "The Power come from the barrel of the gun".

When the two mix one of them will die for nothing.

"Although my son made a mistake in behaving pridefully"

The FUCKING Mother & Father should teach their stupid kids to speak as an adult not as an asshole.

a kids like this should get kill every day.

Yont Thavron is a military police officer, he think he can abuse his powers by intimidating people. The result is a violent end to his life.

The police officers who shot him dead and wounded three others are not trained to police the security of the country, but are trained to be killers. They know nothing about laws and orders, but about using the powers of their guns to solve disputes.

This is the reality of Cambodia today.

Your son has a stupid pride. He look down on the poor he deserved to be dead.

'Looking down on people' is the Khmer national sport. Everyone does it. In a country with nothing those who have something, no matter how small, make sure everyone knows it.

The consumption of material goods such as SUVs, mobile phones and expensive jewellery are all ways that people here make themselves feel and look more important than others. Is there no better way of looking down on someone than from the seat of an SUV?

I'm sure the murderer of the young man has used his position as police officer to control those less powerful than himself. You see this everyday.

Don't you see that this is all connected and is a symptom of the disease of pride and violence that has spread through Khmer society.

Does the PM not use the same forms of control: Threats of violence both structural and physical towards those he feels he controls?

Pride is worst of all sins. Had he treated people with kindness and understand, his life could have been spared. Corrupt as usual with Lexus, it tells me that he is no different from the others. Rotten in hell.

This is the reality in Cambodia under Hun Sen. Lawlessness is the norm of life because the PM is a lawless person himself because he had just threatened to take over Phnom Penh in two hours and kill all opposition politicians and all his critics.
