Cambodian Ministry of Information had informed all publications, include newspapers and magazines both in Khmer and foreign language publications, to use the phrase "the Khmer temple of Preah Vihear" in their description of this long disputed temple with Thailand.
The instruction came in the form of a letter from Information Minister Khieu Kanharith dated 6th August. The letter added that Preah Vihear temple (pictured) was built by the Khmer ancestors, therefore all Khmers must be proud of their achievements by helping the preserve their works.
This new directive comes at a time when many foreign media described the temple as a "Hindu temple", instead of the "Khmer temple", making unsuspecting readers who are unfamiliar with the history of the temple confused as to who built and owned the temple.
Preah Vihear temple was built in the 9th century when the Cambodian population as well as the Khmer kings followed Hinduism.

That Photo depicted is NOT PRASAT PREAH VIHEAR.. IT IS PRASAT PHNOM RUNG in Northeastern Thailand...

Hi All,
Thanks for your information. I took the photo from somewhere and it said it is Preah Vihear. I didn't have a good look at it at that time. Now that I had a good look at it, I totally agree that it is not Prasat Preah Vihear. Sorry for the wrong photo. It will be removed soon.
Dear Blog's owner,
Before you remove this picture, could you ask for a clearification from the picture source. I found this same picture attached in many RFA's news. The foot of the picture wrote: AFP. So its source may be from AFP or Agent French Press?
Wishes,
And once again, I am sure that the picture which you have promised to remove is a very part of Preah Vihear. It is not Phnom Rung, or anywhere than Preah Vihear. Hence, could you keep this picture as it is in your block.
Kindly,
Dear Pucangkor,
The original Preah Vihear photo posted here had been removed already. The one you see now is a new picture which is really a picture of Preah Vihear temple. Thanks for your suggestions.
