PM Hun Sen ended an official visit to France with fruitful results

Prime Minister Hun Sen's official visit to France from 13-14 July had resulted in good bilateral co-operations between the two countries.

The delegation had arrived in Cambodia on 19th July after the PM went to attend his son's graduation from Bristol University in the UK.

At a press conference at the Phnom Penh International Airport, Mr. Prak Sokhon, spokesman for the delegation, said Mr. Hun Sen's visit had resulted in many positive ties between the two countries. He said: "This is an official visit of the highest level unprecented in the history of any prime ministers' visit to France where Prime Minister Hun Sen had met with the French President, the French Prime Minister and both sides had agreed to promote bilateral relations between the two countries."

Mr. Prak Sokhon also said that during the visit, Mr. Hun Sen had discussed about economic issues, the issues Khmer Rouge Tribunal as well other issues of national importance. During the visit Mr. Hun Sen had signed an agreement to provide the French oil company, Total, the exclusive rights to explore oil in the Cambodian sea off the coast of Sihanoukville.

Mr. Hun Sen had also raised the issues of border disputes with Thailand in the Preah Vihear areas, but said that Cambodia will try to contain the disputes from spreading to other areas along the borders.

Mr. Hun Sen had also asked France to provide more loans, both secured and unsecured, to Cambodia. He also requested France to continue providing more scholarships to Cambodian students to further their studies in French universitites.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Hun Sen had also extended an official invitation to any French leaders to make an official visit to Cambodia at a time convenient to them.
