Kon Tum reburies 60 martyrs killed in Laos, Cambodia

The Central Highland province of Kon Tum held a solemn ceremony on May 26 to rebury the remains of 60 soldiers killed in action during their war time mission in Laos and Cambodia.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the special taskforce and leaders from the three southern provinces of Laos and the Ratanakiri province of Cambodia, where the remains of fallen Vietnamese soldiers were found.

The remains were discovered during the 2008-09 dry season by Kon Tum province’s taskforce with assistance from their Lao and Cambodian counterparts and members of the public.

At the funeral, Major General Ken Singma Nyvong, Deputy Head of the Lao Government’s Special Taskforce and Deputy Director of the General Politics Department of the Lao army, said “The Party, State and people of Laos are very grateful for the sacrifice of these Vietnamese soldiers and specialists on their international missions in Laos and Cambodia."
