Heng Samrin blasts Thailand over border violations

Reported by Khmerization

Mr. Heng Samrin (pictured), chairman of Cambodian National Assembly, has accused Thailand of arrogantly continuing to violate Khmer territories and reneging on the agreements from the many borders negotiations, reports everyday.com.

During a meeting with Mr. Aijedengu Raswajaya (spelling?), Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia on Sunday, Mr. Heng Samrin told the Ambassador that Cambodia will strongly and resolutely defend its sovereignty over Preah Vihear, Ta Moan Thom and Ta Moan Toch temples.

However, he said that Cambodia will still continue to maintain friendship with Thailand and respect the United Nations and the Asean Charters. He added that Cambodia will continue to show restraint and seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the spirit of neighbourly co-existence in order to avoid armed conflicts.

It's good to hear that Heng Samrin has talked tough on the border issues with Thailand, but his words must be followed with strong actions on the grounds and in the negotiations. So far Hun Sen has been very soft on the grounds and during the negotiations.
