Civil societies who lodged a compensation claim with Thailand still insist that they will continue to push for a compensation from Thailand for destroying the homes of more than 261 families during the armed clashes on 3rd April, 2009, reports Radio Free Asia.
Mr. Moeung Son, chairman of the Khmer Civilisation Foundation, said that his foundation will continue to push for a compensation from Thailand but worried that the Cambodian government would one day forbid him from continuing to make the claims.
He said: "We will not back down. We will back down only if the government forbid us from doing so and then I will stop. But if the government agrees that ordinary people have the rights to help the government protect our territories and to develop our country, I will continue until we get the compensation (from Thailand) because there is no reason that Thailand can absolve its responsbility. It is undeniable."
The Khmer Civilisation Foundation on 22nd April had sent letters to the Cambodian Council of Ministers and the Thai embassy asking for $9.2 million in compensation from Thailand for the destructions to the homes of more than 261 families, but he has yet to receive any replies from them.
Mr. Phay Siphan, spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said the compensation claims were made by one Khmer person who cares and who want to help in the defence of the country, but he said that the government had already done this through diplomatic channels even before the civil societies had even contemplated the actions, but up until now the Cambodian government has not received any replies from the Thai government yet.
Mr. Phay Siphan said: "We had done this since before he (Moeung Son) travelled to Preah Vihear. We've done it through diplomatic channels to ask them (the Thais) to explain (their actions)."
Cambodian and Thai soldiers have engaged in brief armed clashes near Preah Vihear temple on 3rd April 2009 in which more than 261 houses in two Cambodian villages were completely destroyed by Thai shells.

Dictator Hun XEn is afraid from Siam and Thaksin Sinovatra!!!
Dictator Hun Xen cannot help his own nation!!!
Not only that Hun Sen is a coward, but he will also won't allow Mr. Moeung Son from demanding a compensation from Thailand for our unfortunate victims. Hun Sen only thinks about his powers and money but never thinks of the Cambodian people and nation.
