9th April, 2009

VietNamNet BridgeA high-level delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front led by Deputy President and General Secretary Vu Trong Kim is on a four-day visit to Cambodia as guests of the National Council of the Front for National Solidarity and Development.

During the visit, which began on April 7, the Vietnamese delegation held talks with a delegation of the National Council, headed by Minister-Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the Council Min Khin.

The two sides exchanged views on the two countries’ situations and their organisations operations over the past year.

They exchanged experiences in promoting national unity and mobilising all resources in the society to contribute to national construction and economic development in each country.

The two sides agreed to continue boosting bilateral cooperation to contribute to building the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia on the basis of mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty and cooperation for mutual benefits for prosperity, peace and stability in the region.

They also agreed to continue exchanging experiences between the two organisations through visits and meetings, by both high-level officials and grassroot front workers.

Kim and his entourage were received by Cambodian Senate President Chea Sim and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The Vietnamese delegation will attend a seminar on building a Vietnam-Cambodia borderline of peace and friendship in Svay Rieng Province on April 9 and 10 before ending their Cambodia visit.
