The Khmer Civilisation Foundation has made an appeal to Thailand to stop sending troops to violate and invade Cambodian territories which had, in the past, led to damages to the world heritage site of Preah Vihear temple, reports Koh Santepheap newspaper.

Mr. Moeung Son, president of Khmer Civilisation Foundation, has accused Thailand of invading Cambodian territories and instigating armed clashes on 15th October 2008 and again on 3rd April 2009 which left many innocent civilians homeless, a market destroyed and substantial damages to the world heritage-listed temple, reports the paper.

In a statement which had been publicly released, Mr. Moeung Son accused Thailand of reneging on its many agreements with Cambodia, like the 1904 treaty, as well as international agreements.

The statement had also appealed to the Cambodian government to seek international legal remedies to the border issues with Thailand, as bilateral talks had yielded no results.

Through its statement, the Khmer Civilisation Foundation had also appealed to Unesco to take immediate actions to protect the world heritage-listed temple of Preah Vihear and to demand that Thai troops move out from the temple vicinity, said Koh Santepheap.

During the fighting on 3rd April 2009, 792 cambodian families from Prasat village and Kor Muoy village, which located near Preah Vihear temple, had become homeless after their houses were completely burnt down by Thai artillery shells.

Koh Santepheap also reported that on 8th of April 2009, Gen. Hing Bunheang, commander of Mr. Hun Sen's bodyguard unit, under Mr. Hun Sen's instructions, had signed a document giving away 4000 hectares of lands near Sra Em village in Choam Ksan district of Preah Vihear province to the 792 families who become homeless when their homes were destroyed by Thai artillery shells.

Phsar Krom Market, located on the staircase of Preah Vihear temple, was bunt down by Thai rockets.
