DIPLOMATIC, Phnom Penh Post
US ambassador Carol Rodley (pictured) submitted her credentials for approval Tuesday by King Sihamoni in a face-to-face meeting with the monarch at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh ahead of assuming office. Embassy spokesman John Johnson expected the acceptance process to be "very smooth" and described the meeting with the King Father as "very cordial". As is standard for US embassy appointments around the globe, Rodley's submission included a letter from the US president requesting the king accept her as his government's local representative. Rodley has a long career in the US Foreign Service, including a recent posting in Kabul as a counselor for political military affairs with the embassy there.
