Nation boosts Cambodia ties

HA NOI — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen have agreed to foster .friendship and co-operation between their two countries.

At a meeting in Ha Noi yesterday, Chairman Trong said the visit by PM Hun Sen would bring their neighbourliness to new levels and praised his contributions to solidarity.

He congratulated the Cambodian leader for the successful organisation of the fourth Cambodian National Assembly elections and for his re-election as Prime Minister.

Trong said that under the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Cambodian people had recorded important achievements in recent years.

This included continuous economic growth, a stable political scene and better international relations.

Trong said he believed the Cambodian Government and people would achieve more in the future. He also said ties between Viet Nam and Cambodia and between the two National Assemblies would develop further.

PM Hun Sen thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their valuable support and assistance during Cambodia’s struggle for national liberation and its current national construction and development.

Red Cross ties

A Cambodian Red Cross delegation led by chairwoman Lok Chumteav Bun Rany Hun Sen yesterday met members of the Viet Nam Red Cross to strengthen bilateral co-operation.

The two sides agreed to promote exchanges and lessons learnt in the field about mitigating disasters and preventing diseases.

The two NGOs plan to collaborate in setting up related projects in the border areas between the two countries. —VNS
